Overview
The General Data Protection Regulation, commonly referred to as the GDPR, is a large-scale European Union regulation that went into effect on May 25, 2018. At a high level, it dictates what rights users have over all data that is collected about them.

As you will find out in this course, there are many rights and regulations established within the GDPR, and the penalties for non-compliance can be extremely severe, so please consult with legal counsel.
This course is an introduction to the GDPR document, we will walk through the fundamental concepts and core principles underlining the GDPR. Specifically, we will be going through the parts of the document most relevant to businesses and organizations. Some parts of the GDPR are written for member states within the EU, outlining their responsibilities, which is not within the scope of this course.
